What was your first job?

My first job was working for my mom's hairstylist. That's who inspired me to become a licensed professional growing up doing my mother's hair and other clients by making them feel beautiful.

What was your most stressful moment?

Having a client not trust my skill set!. She wanted to wait for my manager because she owned the salon but she was too busy to take another client. My manager knew I was capable of doing what she wanted. So I explained to her politely she can give me a chance to show her that I can or she would have to wait and reschedule another day. My manager assured her to have me do so or at least start her. As I start the service and talk to her to make her less nervous she allowed me to finish and was happy with the results. She became my regular client and recommended others, too.

Who is your ultimate style icon? For makeup I would say Pat McGrath. She's amazing and so talented. And for hair Tabatha Coffey. She amazing in her work ethic and know how to manage a business.

What's your favorite look you've ever created?

Well my favorite look was very creative. They call out of the box art "Avant-garde." We did a Halloween photo shoot and one of my pieces was for the Mad Hatter. I created this piece mostly out of hair. I was very proud of myself and every so often I love doing fun hair and makeup.

What's inspiring you now?

What inspires me the most is making my clients happy and being able to put a smile on their face. It shows that they are really happy with my work.

What's your desert island essential?

Oh this is so hard. Hairspray, nice red lipstick, and mascara.

Meet Kristen. My background in skin care started when I was a young girl, I used to draw faces and try to create them having perfect symmetry. I've always been fascinated by faces and always have been inspired by the beauty in imperfections. My background as an esthetician began in 2002. I've worked for one of the top surgeons and plastic surgeons in Scottsdale Arizona, an award-winning destination spa called Mii Amo in Sedona then moved to New York City in 2010. Having worked for the number one luxury spa in the U.S. at the Ritz Carlton Central Parks famed La Prairie Spa since 2011 I have built a very loyal and strong following  at KD Studio a makeup and organic skin care based skin care boutique located in Katonah, NY. In 2012 I also started a private house call esthetic service for busy women on the go in Manhattan. In 2013 I was asked to be one of the leading estheticians for a VIP and luxury spa service concierge service called Beaute' A Porter, which caters to celebrities and high profile vip's, seeking the best of the best for private skin care services. One of the most challenging moments in my career as an Esthetician was being called for a very impromptu facial for an "American Idol Judge" I heard he was very particular about his service providers.   I only knew him by his reputation on his famed television show. The service was very successful and he was a pleasure to work on and he requested me repeatedly after. Such an honor and a compliment.  Since then, I have serviced many other celebrities and high profile clients, but all of my clients are very important to me, and through my work and my clients,  ever changing needs,  I continued to be inspired.
