Is this W-2 or independent contractor work?
Independent contractor (1099). You accept the bookings you want, set your own schedule and keep 60% of every service plus 100% of gratuity.
Do I pay booth rent or any fees?
No. No booth or suite rent, no software fee and no product minimums. We market, book and collect payment in advance; you create and get paid.
How much can I earn?
Blowouts pay $60 plus tip, haircuts $72 plus tip and updos $90 plus tip. Wedding mornings pay $350–$1,250 depending on party size, and birthday parties and pop-ups pay $500 flat. Our part-time stylists earn $1,750+ a week.
Which license do I need?
An active Connecticut hairdresser/cosmetology license, or a license in the state where you'll work. Makeup artists, nail technicians and massage therapists need the license their work requires.
Do I need bridal experience?
For blowouts, cuts and events, 5+ years in an upscale salon. To lead wedding mornings, we look for 10+ years of bridal experience — it's a promise we make to every couple.
Can I keep working at my salon?
Yes. Many stylists start with weekend weddings or a few early-morning blowouts and grow from there.
How do wedding mornings work?
We build a detailed timeline with the couple after the trial, staff enough artists to stay on schedule, and coordinate with Doorbell Barbers on the groom's side. You'll work with the same bride from trial to wedding day.
Are you insured?
Yes. Doorbell Salon providers work under Doorbell Barbers LLC's $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate general liability insurance.
